Hummus is a popular Middle Eastern dip or spread made from cooked and mashed chickpeas, tahini (sesame seed paste), lemon juice, garlic, and olive oil. Here’s a simple recipe for making hummus at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 ounces) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Process until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  2. With the motor running, slowly drizzle in water, a tablespoon at a time, until the hummus is smooth and creamy.
  3. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  4. Transfer the hummus to a bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Serve with pita bread, crackers, or vegetables for dipping.

Enjoy your homemade hummus!
